National Non-Insurance Covered Assistance (NNICA) was formed due to the realization that although health insurance is important, there are a magnitude of associated costs that fall outside of what insurers provide. When a principle here at NNICA was confronted with he and his wife's child suffering a massive stroke, they quickly realized just how many costs were not covered. Transporting their child from the hospital to a rehabilitation center out of state cost them thousands of dollars due to this being an uninsured expense. The standard cost for transporting a loved one to another state typically runs into the thousands of dollars. Finances may already be strained and if that's your situation, taking off work, staying in a hotel for an extended period of time and the multitude of other unforeseen costs puts many in the unbearable situation of having to sell off assets, bankruptcy and even the reality that they may have to make the heartbreaking decision to let their loved one pass. We don't believe anyone should end up in financial ruin simply due to the lack of money for uncovered needs. Every life is precious and the inability to obtain services for your loved one should not determine whether they live or die.
