The ONE City Scholarship Fund was created by Toronto educators to support high-achieving, community minded students in their post-secondary studies — students who have excelled despite the considerable obstacles place in their paths.Our recipients come from TDSB schools all across Toronto, reflecting the reality that remarkable young people can be found in ALL neighbourhoods and at every income level.ONE City scholars have a resilient, optimistic spirit that allows their gifts to shine. Our scholarship celebrates their achievements and offers them support for their next step. Recipients join a community of students with similar experiences and are offered a variety of mentoring opportunities to support their transition from high school to university or college.As educators, we see it as critically important to celebrate young people who have already overcome so much and who have demonstrated that they have the grit to face life's challenges and be successful. We want to let students in overlooked communities know that we are aware of the talent in their midst. We also want to inform the rest of Toronto know of the determination, ambition and optimism of young people living in ALL of our city's neighbourhoods.Toronto needs these extraordinary young people to flourish. By supporting ONE City students, we help them to develop a vision of Toronto that is more just, more accepting and more conscious of its strength through diversity.
