Started in May 2014, OpenedEyes started making waves in the areas of community programing, working to strengthen the community through awareness of diversity and the benefit it has to help foster growth, and eliminating stigma dealing with differences related to race, gender, sexuality, religion, and cultures.OpenedEyes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Brandon Wiley. OpenedEyes is a program designed to help others create a positive identity based off a holistic diversity perspective. The program is based off an educational model, designed for children, adolescents and young adults, encompassing a multiracial/multicultural phenomenon of being asked the question,"What are you?"This program will employ strategies to increase self-awareness, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging so responding to this question may feel more comfortable. The program aims to develop universal diversity where individuals explore themselves as well as the world of others. By opening your eyes to looking within yourself as well as your surroundings, we hope you discover the answer to the question "What are you?"
