Arjan Jager is an urban designer and ORANGE Urban Design shows his research on urban environments and how people use them.Arjan has a Bachelor's degree in urban planning and a Master's degree in urban design. He worked for leading urban design and landscape architecture offices in Amsterdam and also was four years part of the urban design team at the City Planning Department of Amsterdam. For four years Arjan combined his work as an urban designer with being an energetic adjunct professor of urban design at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam. He also worked and lived in Zimbabwe and Indonesia where he experienced how simple, spot on designs can make a huge impact on quality of life. This combination of experiences defines his personal style as a designer. Recently he relocated to the Bay Area.Arjan uses a combination of research and design to identify the potential and most innovative uses of spaces to ensure that every plan makes a one of a kind contribution to the surrounding urban environment. Arjan quickly identifies the effects of multi-scaled projects operating at local, neighborhood, city and regional levels. He specializes in projects in mixed use environments, urban regeneration, transit oriented design and sustainability issues. Since relocating to the Bay Area, he devotes his time to researching various urban design trends and issues in and around San Francisco.Occationally he writes about his experiences as a Dutch urban designer in the United States.
