Our House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) residential facility that since 1993 has been serving abandoned, abused, homeless, and orphaned male youth ages 16-20 from the Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia areas. The young men come to Our House through the social welfare and juvenile justice systems. They are given a home, taught carpentry and building trade skills, an academic education to acquire their GED, life skills, self-esteem and confidence. The youth run a Certified Organic Garden, tend beehives, hens, do pottery and do weekly community service. Our House is located in Brookeville, MD just 45 minutes North of DC near Gaithersburg, MD. We are on a 140 acre farm that Oprah Winfrey was kind enough in 2000, to help purchase supporting our concept and goals. Our House is where "America's Forgotten Children" get a chance at success in life.
