Mental Health Care - , ,
PathfinderJohn was created because families of the mentally ill believe they have tried everything to help their mentally ill loved ones, but nothing is working, and they do not know what to do. Some families are experiencing the shock of witnessing their loved ones having an ‘episode' for the first time as a result of their mental illness or they have been trying for years to find solutions, but nothing has changed, and their loved ones are getting worse. Families of the mentally ill are often left psychologically, physically, and financially exhausted. When they try to work with our broken mental health system, they are left frustrated, disappointed, and hopeless. There are services available for the mentally ill, but the process is complex and requires the expertise that comes from experience working within the mental health system. Through PathfinderJohn I have worked with families of the mentally ill across the country since 2009 helping them navigate the mental health system to get the services their loved ones need and deserve in order to live fulfilling lives. Each families' needs are unique, but the overall goal is to acquire a diagnosis, treatment, housing, and ongoing support. There are no guarantees in the outcome of our efforts however we always find that our families feel they have more tools and options to work with and most importantly they feel more hopeful.I have lived the experience of mental illness in my own family for over 40 years and watched my family suffer feeling guilty and ashamed not knowing what to do. As a Certified Facilitator I also lead family support groups for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and DBSA (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) so that families have a place to get the education, resources and support they need for themselves so that they are better able to help their mentally ill loved ones.To discuss options for your family go to https://pathfinderjohn.com.
