Pennies for Poverty a 501c 3 non-profit organization dedicated to addressing poverty in Newburyport, MA. We raise awareness on poverty, increase the community's understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty. We ask the following of the local community:-Donate 2 CENTS a day ($7.30 a year) to our 2 Cent Grant Fund which is given back to the community to fund necessary but under funded services or for new initiatives to lift people out of poverty.-Donate 2 CANS a month to any food pantry or soup kitchen serving those in need from Newburyport.-Volunteer 2 HOURS a month at a local organization to help those in need.-And we offer TOGETHER events free in order to increase community, cultural heritage and be inclusive to all. Our program is run solely by volunteers on an annual operating budget of $2000 per year and our NPO model has been developed so that it can be replicated in other cities and towns.
