PEPO LA TUMAINI JANGWANI is the most successful and enduring HIV/AIDS initiative in the Isiolo area serving over 7,000 families. Since 1994, the PLTJ operation has been greatly expanded to address the many social and economic problems arising from the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Pepo focuses on restoring dignity through expressive arts and peace building and empowering vulnerable youth through life skills education and vocational training. It is the only humanitarian initiative in Isiolo to offer holistic community support to families living in extreme poverty, affected by stigma and discrimination, including semi-nomadic pastoralist communities.
