Pilbara Solar Pty Ltd is a privately owned start-up company, formed to advance solar energy production in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. This region has been recognized as having some of the best solar resources in the world. Our goals are:Short term: to provide secure, long-term, low-cost solar power to the industry in the Pilbara.Medium term: to scale up the solar industry in the Pilbara, building up the supply chain and expertise to develop globally cost-competitive solar power at scale, adapted to local Pilbara conditions.Long Term: to export Australian solar energy to Indonesia, via a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) interconnector. The Pilbara Solar ownership structure includes representation from the Traditional Owners of the land in the Pilbara. We aim to grow communities and leadership opportunities for a new, clean, responsible industry.This enterprise is based on the recommendations of the report commissioned by the Pilbara Development Commission, 'Evaluating the potential to export Pilbara solar resources to the proposed ASEAN grid via a subsea high voltage direct current interconnector', launched in 2017.
