As 18-year-olds about to vote in our first election, we found keeping track of all 25 candidates in the largest primary field in history incredibly daunting. After looking around for a solution, there wasn't a single place on the internet where we could find coherent, concise, and unbiased information regarding all of the current presidential candidates and their platforms. Determined to make every American vote an informed one, our group of six classmates created a free app called PoliTalk USA for our senior project.Over several weeks, we consolidated information from campaign websites, news articles, interviews, and voting records into simple and sleek app coded from scratch. As candidates' positions evolve, we continue to update the app with newly-released policy proposals.After PoliTalk USA's successful launch on the iOS App Store — where it ranked #74 for Best Free News Apps — our story made the front page of the Stamford Advocate and Softonic featured us as one of the best election apps for voters in 2019. We also received an interview from News 12 Connecticut that highlighted our app's purpose. Knowing about the presidential candidates is not only vital in making an informed choice, but it is also essential to this country's democratic process.
