Positive Planet China, the Beijing representative office of Positive Planet, is a non-profit and tax-exempt organization that promotes financial inclusion by supporting China's microfinance sector. By providing its core services of technical assistance (microfinance), thought leadership (research) and supportive services (FinLit/energy), Positive Planet works toward its goals of sustainable development and poverty alleviation. Established in 2003, Positive Planet China was one of the first institutions practicing in China's nascent microfinance industry. Positive Planet directly supports microfinance institutions and partners with community, rural and provincial banks to develop microfinance departments. The organization also provide a wide array of supportive services that focus on the quality of institutional services and holistic well-being of low-income clients. More recently, Positive Planet China is exploring new opportunities to advance financial inclusion through new platforms and digital mediums, as the result of rapid innovation taking place in the industry. Thanks to its mixture of highly motivated Chinese and international staff, Positive Planet is able to combine the strengths of international best practices and supportive institutions to develop finely-tailored and innovative programing. Positive Planet China has managed projects in more than 20 Chinese provinces and cities, across both rural and urban areas in China.
