Precedent is winemaker Nathan Kandler's vehicle to explore some of California's most transcendent and unique vineyards. The focus is on micro-production wines from vineyards whose climate and soil allow for maximum expression of flavor on a classically weighted frame. We focus on vineyards that are intelligently farmed by responsible stewards of the land. The winemaking techniques are traditional; the focus is on translating the voice of the soil to the glass. The utilization of native yeasts, minimal French Oak influence and a minimal/no intervention philosophy are the overriding principles to achieve authentic site expression.Producing wines of purity, elegance and intrigue since 2006.
