We are a group of college students making an exoskeleton. The purpose of the exoskeleton is to increase human performance in strength and endurance while maintaining their health during physical labor such as lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects that cause permanent damage to industrial workers. In Iraq and Afghanistan, a third of US military evacuations were from preventable musculoskeletal injuries from activities like lifting heavy loads. The ATLAS Project seeks to provide a device that provides the user with enhanced upper body strength for lifting, a frame to distribute the added weight to the floor, and leg support to help them move. These technologies currently exist in the exoskeleton industry, but they're typically fragmented, as each exoskeleton usually helps one part of the body. To make a full-body exoskeleton, we've taken inspiration from these technologies, and integrated them into concept designs that match each one's strengths and weaknesses to develop a comprehensive, inexpensive, and hopefully groundbreaking exoskeleton!
