Covid-19 pandemic has been especially hard on commercial sex workers and their families. To understand the context and their challenges better, Sattva has conducted a need assessment across 4 Red Light Areas. The results of these assessments are shocking. While 100% stated a loss of income, 88% had reported having no alternate source of livelihood. For a community that has been historically stigmatized, the novel coronavirus has exacerbated the challenges of sex workers making them even more marginalised and vulnerable today.Project Pankh is an initiative focused on building alternative livelihood models for commercial sex workers. The idea is to collaborate and make partnerships with technical skill training organisations, community-based organisations that work with CSW's who together envision the co-creation and implement a sustainable model that empowers CSW's through income generation programs.
