projectHandUp is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to offer women a practical hand up with life's challenges.\\Currently, PHU has two initiatives: First Friday (www.firstfridaywomen.com) & The Gatehouse (www.gatehousegrapevine.com).\\The Gatehouse community will house up to 96 families and also includes a community/conference center, in-neighborhood counseling centers, general store, walking trails and commercial space. This community, which allows members to stay up to 2½ years depending on their individually tailored program, provides safe refuge and creates the environment for women and children in crisis to walk the path toward permanent change. (www.gatehousegrapevine.com)\\First Friday host speakers from September through May (except for holidays, then we meet on the 2nd Friday) at Harkins Theatre in the Southlake Town Center for local women of all ages and in all seasons of life to hear experts in their field give proven, practical ways to navigate life's daily challenges.
