PSI-Europe is a non-governmental organisation, established in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2008. Being affiliated to the global PSI network, we are PSI's primary point of contact with European stakeholders and networks. PSI provides life-saving products, clinical services and behaviour change communications that empower vulnerable populations to lead healthier lives. We work in partnership with the public and private sectors, harnessing the power of the markets. PSI-Europe's principal working areas are Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, HIV/AIDS as well as maternal and child health - including prevention and treatment of malaria. Our core method of social marketing uses culturally relevant mass media advertising and information, education and communication (IEC) campaigns. These campaigns empower individuals to make informed choices that encourage their well-being and ensure access to products and services to support this behaviour. Research conducted by PSI over the last years shows that social marketing leads to improved health behaviours in different areas and in diverse cultural environments.PSI-Europe's principal activities are:1. Advocacy for the Millennium Development Goals. We promote the use of social marketing as a tool to achieve measurable progress, particularly against promoting gender equality (MDG 3), reduction of child mortality (MDG 4), improving maternal health (MDG 5) and combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases (MDG 6). 2. Representing the global PSI network in Europe. 3. Providing and disseminating evidence-based information on the effectiveness and results of social marketing interventions.4. Identifying, implementing and funding partners of the PSI network in Europe.5. Working with affiliate organisations and their partners in the strategic identification and design of social marketing projects.
