Connecting people to each other and the earth. What is RangiChangi Roots? The word RangiChangi is Nepalese. Rangi means "colour" in Hindi, Punjabi and Nepalese and Changi means "vibrant" or "diverse". We found it a fitting word to describe our organization and our world so filled with vibrant and diverse colours! Our Roots symbolize our connection to one another and the earth. HistoryRangiChangi Roots developed as a result of the 2009 climate action initiative Bridge to a Cool Planet, a one-day education and advocacy event that took place in Vancouver BC as a lead up to the Copenhagen Conference. One of our key goals was to reach as diverse a community as possible. We assembled a group of leaders from Vancouver's ethno-cultural organizations for a media conference to make strong demands on climate policy with one voice. And out of this mission, grew the seed for RangiChangi Roots: Many Cultures One Climate. We believe that the transformative change needed to solve the climate crisis won't happen unless everyone is involved. We want to build bridges between the green movement and cultural communities in order to:- better appreciate our shared concerns and unique situations- collaborate more effectively in taking direct steps to reduce emissions- call on government to introduce strong laws to fight climate change
