Established in 1984 with a bequest of a substantial property portfolio from the late Mrs Rebecca L Cooper, the Foundation that bears her name provides direct funding grants to Australian based researchers investigating human diseases in the following fields: - Brain Sciences; - Diabetes; - Geriatrics; - Medical Genetics; - Rheumatology; - Non-Cancerous Lung Disease; and - Vision Sciences. The Foundation's contribution to medical research has grown from a humble $19,485 in its first year of operation to over $1,050,000 in 2012, taking total funding to over $15.25 milllion.Grants are made in an annual round of applications, details of which appear on our website.In addition, the Foundation provides a limited number of PhD Scholarships, selected from the grant applicants. A PhD Fellowhip was established in 2012.
