Reinvention Wheels, Inc. is an advocate for social change whose bicycle programs empower self-sufficiency and community development in disadvantaged regions of Latin America, Africa and the United States. As a social enterprise, we earn in-kind donations by performing an employee collaboration / bike-building workshop for organizations that ascribe to our philosophy of Synergy for Significance.The NeedMore than 1 Billion people worldwide, living in isolated communities, have no access to transportation. When 4 and 5 hours every day is devoted to getting clean water to drink, other quality-of-life necessities – like access to clinics, markets, schools and employment – are simply an impossibility. Life-Changing ImpactA Bicycle enables a person to travel 5 times farther/faster than walking, with less physical exertion, and the ability to carry cargo. Our providing bicycles to healthcare workers, teachers and micro-businesses means that: • people who have never seen a nurse can now receive medicine when they are ill,• adults and children who cannot read or write now have an opportunity to learn,• small businesses, like bakeries and delivery services, can now bring food and water across an entire village, and• people who scavenge through dumps for survival may now ride to a job to earn income to support their families.Visit our website to learn more about our Mechanix bike-building workshop, and our international service projects.
