Relay For Life UWA is the biggest community event at UWA, held in Semester 2 annually. The event raises vital funds for the Cancer Council WA's research, support and education programs.More than fundraising, the event has a significant impact on the student culture at UWA by providing an opportunity for clubs, faculty societies and community groups to give back to the local community. The event is a big part of the university's calendar with many groups on campus recruiting their Team Captain months in advance of the event. The true value of Relay is the way that it brings students and the community together in support of a great cause. The event is student-owned and student-driven. First created in 2010, it has always been run by a student committee and supported by the Guild.Since its inaugural year, Relay For Life UWA has raised $1.1 million for CCWA.
