Founded in 1972, the Rock River-Koshkonong Association has raised over $215,000 to fund improvements for the Rock River and Lake Koshkonong in the areas of safety, recreation, and conservation. Examples of our efforts include:• Water rescue equipment donations.• Developed a cold water rescue map.• Warning sign to alert boaters of the presence of rocks and rapids.• Chanel marking and hazard buoy purchases.• Navigational strobe light purchase and installation.• Boat launch and parking area construction and renovation.• Donation to wheelchair accessible boat launch and fishing docks.• Floating dock construction and renovation.• Numerous fish hatchery projects.• Purchase and installation of 5,000 Sego Pond Weed and wild celery weed tubers to improve the habitat.• Carp barrier gate installation.• Shoreline Stabilization Project on Lake Koshkonong's northwest shoreline.RRKA lead the fight and won the battle to stop the WDNR efforts to remove the Jefferson and Indian Ford dams. Both dams were retained AND repaired to last another 50 years. The Rock River and Lake Koshkonong are valuable local resources that benefit the surrounding communities from a recreational and economic perspective. We wish to continue our efforts to improve these bodies of water, but we need your support!Supporting the RRKA is as easy as participating in one of our fundraisers. We always welcome new members and volunteers as well.
