Mission and Goals:The San Diego Adaptive Sports Foundation's (SDASF) mission is to improve the quality of life for children and adults with physical disabilities through sports and recreation. Organization Structure:Founded in 2006, SDASF is governed by a board of directors and is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. SDASF tax identification number is 04-3842913.Target PopulationChildren and adults with permanent physical disabilities such as spinal cord injuries, amputations, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and other orthopedic and neurological disorders. Core Programs and Activities:• Year-Round Adaptive Sports (YRS)Year Round league sports programs are offered to people of all ages and include wheelchair basketball, soccer and rugby. Originally just one team, the program has quickly grown to include multiple competitive and recreational levels. • Junior Wheelchair Sports CampChildren, ages 4-18, attend a five-day adaptive sports camp.• Adaptive Sports and Recreation Clinics, Various-all ages• Injured Servicemembers ProgramIn partnership with the Naval Medical Center San Diego and the Veterans Administration, SDASF provides adaptive sports opportunities to injured servicemembers.
