Electrical/electronic Manufacturing - , Scotland, United Kingdom
Sangamo first appeared in the UK in 1921 as the UK subsidiary of the Sangamo Electric Co. of Springfield, Illinois - pioneers in the fields of electrical metering, aviation instrumentation and the first reliable electric pocket watches for the railroads. In 1936 the company merged to form Sangamo Weston, and in 1951 a facility was opened in Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, specialising in the manufacture of high quality time switches. The company continues to operate from this Scottish base today, manufacturing the same prestigious time switches which helped establish the Sangamo name for quality and reliability. The Powersaver range is a long term member of the Sangamo stable of products; fully manufactured in Scotland with a consistent product design for over 20 years. They provide domestic control of electric space heating and immersion heating of hot water from a simple Boost to the PS Dual; which assists tenants in reducing peak-time energy usage to heat water. Continuity of design and production has allowed customers to purchase without risk; confident that the quality product line remains fully supported and eliminating retraining issues for contractors and tenants alike. One of Sangamo's longest partnerships is to supply the Powersaver Daily for hot water control into the Glasgow area. First agreed with Glasgow District Council over 20 years ago this product continues to be demanded for Housing Association needs in and around Greater Glasgow. A fairly recent addition to the Sangamo line-up is the range of Choice heating controls used for gas central heating systems, to support initiatives for energy efficient homes. The Choice range was developed with the same standards for quality and includes central heating programmers and a range of thermostats – from a basic mechanical dial through to fully programmable wireless models.
