Simurq Aeronautics is an innovation-hungry organisation from The University of Sheffield and part of the Sheffield Space Initiative (SSI). Focusing on designing and developing aerospace vehicles, Simurq is comprised of two teams, namely, Project Hex and Project Volaticus. Annually, Project Hex competes with a rotor-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) at the Institute of Mechanical Engineers' (IMechE) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Challenge. Project Volaticus joined her sister team this year at the competition, fielding a UAV of the fixed-wing variant.
