SPREAD MENTAL WELLNESS THROUGHOUT AFRICA (SMAfrica): SMAfrica is a social development platform that works to psychologically empower the African youth to believe in themselves and remain confident in their future under any circumstances. Our approach is based on scientifically proven methods of mental Health prevention and promotion, which is all about being mindful of our psychological health and handling our mental wounds in a healthy way.HISTORY:The roots of SMAfrica are traced back to Sudan Motivation Area (SMA), which was founded in 2014. It was the first social initiative to address mental wellness and mental health prevention in the community by providing motivational speeches and mental resilience sessions. After three years, in the year 2017, SMA was officially registered with HAC (Humanitarian Aid Commission) under a new name Sudan Voluntary Organization for Motivation (SVOM), becoming the first non-profit organization addressing mental wellness in Sudan.SVOM carried out ambitious projects aimed at enhancing the mental resilience of the youth, fighting mental health stigma and educating the public about mental health. The journey was tough but the impact was worth it.In 2019, we took yet another ambitious goal of reaching wider communities outside Sudan. SVOM participated in conferences and signed MoU with organizations that shared our dream. SVOM became the SMAfrica we know today to align with our vision of spreading the message of mental wellness and mental hygiene, eradicating mental stigma and providing psychological support to those who need it across the continent.Today, SMAfrica has branches in 14 states across Sudan and became the most influential organization in mental wellness.
