"Snehalaya" means "House of Love" a home for the children in need of care and protection. It has been providing relief to different kinds of destitute since its foundation thereby justifying its name. The program was officially launched by the Salesians of Don Bosco, Guwahati Province, North-East India on August 16, 2000, on the 185th birth anniversary of St. John Bosco. However, Snehalaya became operational only on January 1st, 2001. Since, then it has been providing shelter, rehabilitation and protection to any child who is in need of these kinds of care.Vision – To build a child-friendly city and region where all children, particularly the young at risk; enjoy their rights to survival, protection, development and participation.Mission – To provide shelter to the homeless children and to build up self confidence and to develop the inherent capacities of the young at risk using the educational system of Don Bosco by imparting education and skills training, and to advocate for their rights by networking with all like-minded people, government & non-governmental organizations and community-based programmes.Motto – "To take them off the street and to put them on their feet"
