Education Management - Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia
The S.P.A.C.E. Project stands for Supporting Placement through Online Access and Community Engagement. It is a pilot program led by Dr. Kate Saxton, social work lecturer at Charles Darwin University. The S.P.A.C.E Project is an innovative response to the challenges brought about by COVID-19 lockdowns and border closures for students around the world. It is is an innovative response to the current constraints COVID-19 has had on the delivery of field education placements. The S.P.A.C.E. team is composed by ten Master of Social Work students from various Australian universities (ACU, CDU, QUT and Excelsia) undertaking their placements through the S.P.A.C.E project. We are a passionate and diverse group of students from all over the world, spread across Australia and overseas. S.P.A.C.E team members are based in Darwin, Alice Springs, Sydney, and Canberra; some are even in their home countries: South Korea, China, and Hong Kong. Despite our diverse cultural backgrounds, we all share a strong desire to empower people, promote human rights, and practice culturally responsive social work in our communities.
