Youth sports are expensive. It is estimated that over 20% of all children living in the Tri-County Central Florida area (Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties) are living in poverty, and over 10,000 children are homeless. League registration fees, equipment, apparel, and transportation expenses can all add up to a substantial amount that prevents many struggling families from enrolling their kids in sports programs. It is estimated that the average cost to participate in a youth sports program in Central Florida is about $200 per child each season. Some leagues offer scholarships, but not nearly enough scholarships are offered to help provide opportunities to the financially disadvantaged children in our community that wish to participate. Sports 4 The Kids, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is determined to provide sports opportunities to as many kids as possible. Participation in sports can make a big difference in the lives of these children.
