Led by students establishing a bystander culture of activism to stop bullying, Stand For Courage employs stories, creativity, and pop-culture for high-impact recognition inspiring relationships built on mutual respect. WE'VE ALL BEEN THE ONE WHO BULLIESTHE TARGETTHE BYSTANDERTHE PATH FORWARD IN BULLYING PREVENTION IS ALL OF US: THE STAND-UP BYSTANDER. Bullying prevention is all about the bystander. An open source, data-driven, student-led program, Stand For Courage recognizes stand-up youth in schools, through the media, and in public venues. It is in our stories that we find power, healing, and a path forward. When reward systems shift from the notoriety bullying elicits to celebrating active bystanders who embody inclusion and kindness, behaviors collectively change too. The Stand For Courage bullying prevention program in schools and community activation is based on the most common reason people bully: attention from peers and a belief that it is a collectively approved way of being. Where the SFC curriculum is implemented, students challenge the heart of this assumption by creating a social milieu that inspires and celebrates interventions on behalf of targeted peers. Research shows that in schools where the Stand For Courage program is implemented bullying is reduced drastically. Moving beyond the courageous and rare individual who acts, Stand For Courage cultivates a shared ethos and a personal ethic where bullying simply doesn't catch on.
