Street Child started in 2008, with one location, 100 children and 4 social workers. Since then, Street Child has continued to grow helping thousands of children lead a more positive life through creating more educational opportunities for them. Following the devastating earthquake in April and May 2015 that left more than 1 million children out of school, Street Child UK expanded its operations into Nepal after being appointed as the lead education organization in Okhaldhunga district by UNICEF and further into three more districts : Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Sindhuli. • 5,239 children were back to class in Transitional Learning Centers• 7,242 Children access to gender-friendly WASH facilities • 48,773 Children benefitted by Early Childhood Development kitsWe expanded our works into hard to reach communities and most vulnerable communities that would have otherwise remained invisible. We are rapidly expanding our work into various avenues to provide long-term education opportunities for Musahars, children of Brick Factory workers and children with disabilities. The scale of the issue we are tackling is significant, and we believe that the thousands of hard-to-reach children deserve a collective response to help them overcome the unjustifiable barriers they face, no matter of the difficulty.
