Nonprofit Organization Management - Washington, Washington, United States
STRIVE DC's mission is to provide high quality workforce services in a manner that improves lives and helps district residents become valuable contributors to their families, employers, and communities. STRIVE DC was established in 1999 to combat the high unemployment rates in Washington, DC's inner-city neighborhoods. It is modeled after STRIVE, Inc., the nationally recognized training and job placement program founded in New York City. The STRIVE DC model continues to develop based on innovate and effective workforce practices, the demands of district area employers, and the needs of DC's chronically unemployed populations. STRIVE's innovative employment model, which ran counter to much of the conventional wisdom in employment training at the time it was introduced, combines a short, intensive training in attitude, self-presentation and job search techniques with rapid placement and long-term follow-up.
