The suddenlyLISTEN Music Society exists to create and present concerts and other events that stretch the boundaries of performance and creation; and to encourage both musicians and non-musicians to listen to, explore, and participate in the making of new and experimental music.suddenlyLISTEN is the artistic vision of Artistic Director Norman Adams. The organization divides its work into four components: Production and presentation of two series of concert-collaborations in Halifax; Touring selected collaborations to other centres; Developing creative work including other performance projects; and Community Outreach including workshops and courses for artists, young people and others. Each season different collections of musicians are assembled, with the participation of regular local collaborators and special guests, to create and perform concerts curated by Norman Adams. The goals are to give audiences an adventure filled listening experience, and artists unique opportunities to explore new possibilities, hear new sounds, and perform with renowned artists from our region and beyond. suddenlyLISTEN concerts are improvised chamber music with a full range of expression. This is the work of Nova Scotian artists fused to the work of others, creating a sound and concert atmosphere like no other in Canada.
