Surfest Newcastle AUSTRALIA 2022Surfest Newcastle Australia 2022 is made possible through the support of Burton Automotive, Maitland and Port Stephens Toyota, The City of Newcastle Council, crowd funding from the Newcastle business community, Wandiyali, Lake Macquarie Council and Newcastle and Hunter Regional businesses. Surfest 2022 will present 9 professional and amateur surfing contests including the City of Newcastle Pro presented by Burton Automotive (World Surf League Men's Qualifying Series 5000 point event), the Surfest Womens Pro (World Surf League Women's Qualifying Series 5000 point event), the Lake Mac City Pro Junior (World Surf League Qualifying Series 1000 point event) and the Wandiyali Indigenous Classic.Surfest Newcastle Australia 2022 will commence in December 2021 with Lake Mac City Pro Junior wildcard trials and conclude at Merewether beach in March 2022, where the male and female champions of the QS5000 events will add their names to an enviable list of winners. Merewether beach is a recognised Australian national surfing reserve and home to festival patron and Australia's most accomplished men's world professional surfing champion, four-time world champion Mark Richards (1979-82). Mark Richards was voted by the public and peers as the most influential Australian surfer (1963-2013) at Surfing Australia's 50th anniversary. 2022 will mark the event's 36th anniversary and attract over 800 competitors. Surfest Newcastle, Australia is the largest festival of surfing in the southern hemisphere.
