Komen's Mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in our communities and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.We achieve this mission in 3 ways: (1) Funding research on the causes and cures for breast cancer; (2) Educating women of their risks and need for screening; and (3) Funding local programs that help women afford cancer screenings and treatment and provide support to those undergoing or after breast cancer treatment. Internationally, Komen has been involved in every major breast cancer research breakthrough in the past 30 years and reached more 200,000 individuals through education and outreach. We function locally through affiliates. On January 1, 2017 Komen Quad Cities, Komen Iowa and Komen Siouxland all merged to become Komen Greater Iowa. Our service area now consists of all of Iowa's 99 counties, as well as Henry, Mercer, Rock Island and Whiteside Counties in Illinois, Dakota and Thurston Counties in Nebraska and Union County in South Dakota. We have offices in Bettendorf, Des Moines, and Sioux City.
