A not-for-profit emergency helicopter service for children and babies, the only one of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Our helicopters are fitted out with intensive care facilities designed to transfer critically ill babies and children to intensive care units at only a handful of metropolitan hospitals in NSW and the ACT. This transfer in the shortest possible time has a direct impact on the likelihood of survival for the babies and children we transfer.Telstra Child Flight flies as far afield as Armidale, Parkes and Griffith in the west, Wagga Wagga and Bega in the south and everywhere in between, taking a neonatal/pediatric medical team to critically ill or injured newborns, babies and children and transferring them to one of ten specialist intensive care units in Newcastle, Sydney or Canberra. Our helicopter is classified as having the 55th neonatal intensive care bed in NSW. We fly an average of 1-3 times within any twenty four hour period. Our helicopter is well known throughout regional NSW - there are many families in the state whose children we have helped save. This invaluable work requires the support of major sponsors and the local community.
