Non-Profit - Innisfail, Queensland, N/A
Terrain NRM is an independent, not-for-profit and community-based environmental management organisation. We think innovatively and act collaboratively, combining the latest science with local knowledge to develop sustainable solutions that increase the resilience of rainforests, reefs, landscapes and communities in Australia's Wet Tropics region. The health of this region's waterways and ocean, its soils and climate, and the extent of its biodiversity are a focus for us. We are the designated body for natural resource management in Queensland's Wet Tropics region and we work with community groups, landholders, traditional owners, government bodies and industry groups. Our projects range from building rainforest and woodland resilience and improving conditions for a range of threatened species to improving soil health, erosion and land management practices, and trialling innovative solutions from bioreactors to eco-system service markets and regerative economy models. We are funded through corporate, government and philanthropic sources. The Wet Tropics region of northern Queensland extends along the coast from Bloomfield to Ingham and inland to the Atherton Tablelands and Mt Garnet. It covers 2.2 million hectares and includes two world heritage areas - the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics rainforest. This region has amazing ecological biodiversity and while many species thrive, it is also home to 139 different threatened species. With emerging climate change issues, it has never needed everyone's help more than now...
