The Copyright Society, a non-profit organization established in 1953, is devoted to copyright law awareness and education. With headquarters in New York City and over 1,000 members nationwide, the Society's mission is to foster interest in and advance the study and understanding of copyright law in literature, music, art, theater, motion picture, television, computer software, architecture, and other works of authorship, and their distribution through both traditional and new media.Members of the Copyright Society include attorneys and professionals from the world's leading IP firms and entertainment and media industries, solo practitioners, in-house counsel, the authors of primary copyright law treatises, representatives of the U.S. Copyright Office, publishers, academics and law students.The Society provides outstanding opportunities for interaction with all facets of the copyright law community. The Society holds national events, such as the Brace Lecture and the Annual and Midwinter Meetings. In addition, its 15 regional Chapters conduct events in their respective areas.The Society also publishes the Journal of the Copyright Society, and awards the annual Seton Award and Award for Excellence in Creativity.The Copyright Society does not register copyrights or offer legal advice.
