The DeGood Foundation Details
The DeGood Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in mid-2017 with a passion and desire to help children Dream More, Learn More, Care More, and Be More through programs for change in youth literacy, health, and education. The DeGood Foundation is also the proud operator of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Hampton Roads. The Imagination Library is a youth literacy program where children enrolled with the program will receive a free book in the mail every month from birth to age five to inspire a love of books, reading, and learning. Our mission is to get books into the hearts and minds of children in our community. The DeGood Foundation also operates Bags of Hope, a powerful program that brings warmth, love, and fun to children with an extended stay in the hospital. We've partnered with The Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk to make this program a reality. All all children who are admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Emergency Department receives a Bag of Hope from The DeGood Foundation to make their stay more fun and less scary.
