City Government/Municipal Government - New York, NY, US
The Greater Allen Development Corporation (GADC) was created in December 2007 to streamline The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York's commitment to empower people, build communities, and change lives. GADC's objective is to identify and implement housing opportunities for low to moderate income individuals and families who currently reside in the City of New York and beyond. We contribute to the revitalization and the overall economic success of the communities we serve by building affordable housing and rehabilitating dilapidated residential and commercial facilities to make our communities inviting and safe spaces to live, work and worship. This is also accomplished by pairing with the building of physical structures with the creation of social service infrastructures. Both are necessary for any community to experience true economic growth and empowerment. At present, GADC has constructed or rehabilitated more than 1000 units of affordable housing, several commercial strip developments, private affordable homes, veteran rental housing, and housing for previously homeless citizens. Our mission is to function as faith-based economic development entity committed to providing leadership, housing, service, and consulting that will serve as a foundation for the revitalization of historically underserved and underutilized communities. Our vision is to become a fully functional community development organization with elevated expertise in project development, construction and design, property management and life-changing social services that will enable our organization to be a substantial component in the transformation of underdeveloped communities.
