"Death and loss are a very real part of life, but they are very difficult for adults to discuss and understand, much less our children," said John TC Megahan. "Our families are being torn a part by grief and the many complications issues that follow the death of a loved one". We created The Journey of Hope Foundation after the death of our little 5 year old year old son, Shawn Michael in July 2001. I literally fell apart emotionally and spiritually during the dark days that followed Shawn Michael's death. I search everywhere to find understanding and support, but found that none of them could effectively meet our needs. All of them had good programs and were effective in so many ways, but none of them pulled together the spiritual, practical and emotional aspects. We so found that many others had the same experience with the various programs, and we found ourselves ministering to others as we tried to survive our own grief. We know what it takes to walk through and survive the long and lonely journey through the "valley of the shadow of death" can share with others from our own painful experiences, as well as our victories.
