Non-Profit - N/A, N/A, NZ
Our mission is to provide safe spaces for period conversations, get period education to those that need it, and ensure every menstruator in Aotearoa has the same access to period products. We work at the critical intersection of menstruators and their needs by creating sustainable change for them, their families, and their communities through our three pillars: Conversation, Education, Access.Since 2017, The Period Place has been agitating for periods in public. While periods are talked about more today than ever, that hasn't resulted in transforming the lives of people with periods in meaningful ways.It is critical that discussions about periods be mainstreamed as a normal biological process. People with periods need information to understand and manage their period with confidence and dignity. We want Aotearoa to be the first country in the world to achieve period equity by 2030, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals from the UN.We look at real-life experiences of people with periods in Aotearoa, and shine a spotlight on how the systems surrounding periods create and reinforce mental, social, economic and environmental barriers, contributing to the perpetuation of period stigma, lack of education and lack of access to products to navigate periods. Our three organisational values represent the need to listen, the need to respond in targeted ways, the need to respond and collaborate across the sector and work together for true impact: Be Responsive, Be Innovative, Share Knowledge.Copyright © 2020 The Period PlaceRegistered Charity CC57037
