Auto Parts/Auto Services - N/A, N/A, N/A
It's inevitable that change comes to every neighborhood, no matter how historic or proud it's inhabitants. The same can be said of the Treme neighborhood of New Orleans. Long considered the oldest African-American neighborhood in America and the birthplace of Jazz, the Treme has seen a demographic shift which has priced long-term residents out of the community that shaped their very being. Not only is the community losing its older generation of home owners and residents, it is losing it's institutional history and the sense of continuity between generations. The Treme Artist Collective was established to preserve the culture of the Treme and the tradition bearers who were responsible for creating the cultural attributes which are celebrated the world over. The Treme Artist Collective was also established to support smaller neighborhood organizations which must compete with major cultural institutions for funding and are at threat of losing their space and/or staffing due to lack of funds. With the establishment of the Treme Artist collective, we will be able to do our part in keeping the culture of the Treme in the Treme and available for the enjoyment of the world.
