Trend Aqua Fresh, is a family business owned by Ton and Jackie Boekestyn. It was born out of the idea to supply the local market with sustainably grown, high quality produce. Ton Boekestyn was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1987. He worked for a local greenhouse operation, however decided to start on his own in 1991. Ton grew various cut flowers and potted plants until 2014 when the aquaponics idea was born. This was quite an undertaking as there was very little information available, however Ton continued to forge ahead, working with numerous companies on the aquaculture design and the water treatment system.
