Civic & Social Organization - Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
UCD Science Society is the place to be for science enthusiasts! First established as the 'Science Day Society' back in 1991, it has since developed into one of the largest societies on campus. With almost 1000 student members in 2018, we were and are responsible for some of the biggest events in UCD. These include the renowned Cycle to Galway, Science Day featuring the infamous Jock Walk (think lab coats, underwear and not much else), the glamorous Science Ball, our annual Pubathon (who said 'pubbing' wasn't a sport?) and of course our weekly events such as coffee mornings, game nights and speed-friending. Sci Soc's main objectives are to foster a better sense a community for students, staff and alumni of University College Dublin interested in science and to fundraise for Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. We're one of the largest student-run charities in the country, raising money for the Children's Medical & Research Foundation (CRMF), Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. All proceeds from our events go directly to the charity at the end of every third term of the academic year, so there's no need to feel guilty after that night out!Interested? Get involved in one of UCD's most active and fun societies and come along to some of our events throughout the year. All are most welcome!
