Since 1999, thousands of people come together in September on the campus shared by UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial to show their commitment to the fight against cancer. The money raised supports adult and pediatric cancer research and care, and clinical trials of new potentially lifesaving therapies taking place right here in Central Massachusetts. This year will mark our 21st annual walk & run. We draw 8-10,000 participants annually from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Southern New Hampshire. The funds we raise stay local to UMass and are essential to continue the programs that will transcend into effective life-saving treatments. Approximately 2,600 people are diagnosed and treated at annually at UMass but the research supported by the Cancer Walk has the potential to help millions across the globe. Partnering with the UMass Cancer Walk & Run demonstrates a strong commitment to the health and well-being of the people of the commonwealth and beyond.
