In 2012, the Union of Relief and Development Associations was founded with the beginning of the Syrian refugee influx. Around 100 relief associations collaborated in order to coordinate the efforts in the charity field in Lebanon, particularly in the field of care for the Syrian refugees.\\With its fourth year closing in, URDA managed to strengthen its reputation as a well established reference in the relief of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon as a step towards becoming the reference for activism in the humanitarian field in general.\ \URDA is active in the following fields: \Shelter\Relief\Development\Health care\Education\Psycho-social Support\Sponsorship of orphans and needy families\ \It also manages and oversees 32 shelter sites housing 33000 Syrian refugees in 5000 housing units spread across Arsal, Bekaa and the North.\During 2014, URDA offered relief aid to 200,000 refugees in the form of food and non food items. It also sponsored 6,853 surgical operations for Syrians in over 36 Lebanese hospitals. In addition, it served 60,719 sick and wounded in the Arsal Medical Center, the only hospital built for that purpose in Arsal.
