University of the Southwest was established in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1962 and provides numerous undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Students attending classes on campus enjoy participating a variety of academic, athletic, and student life opportunities. With a student to faculty ratio of 11:1 USW students benefit from an environment where professors know them and have a genuine interest in their success. With graduate students in nearly every state in the United States and several countries around the world, USW's reach is global. Like students attending traditional classes on campus, online graduate students also enjoy small class sizes and individual attention from instructors who are experts in their respective fields of teaching. Points of Interest: 1. Athletics - USW is a Division 1 NAIA school and a member of the Red River Athletic Conference. We have one numerous conference championships in several sports as well as a National Championship in Track & Field in Spring, 2010. Within the last two years, USW has earned the Highest Overall Athletic GPA in the conference and both Men's and Women's programs have been received the RRAC Sportsmanship Award. 2. Academics - USW believes in encouraging students to prepare for life through faith, individual responsibility and initiative. Students who participate in student government, campus ministry, speech and debate, and SIFE learn the skills they need to be successful contibutors in the communities where they will live and work. 3. Student life - In addition to supporting our students in scholarly and athletic endeavors, USW believes in providing rich opportunities to develop friendships and relationships that will enhance the USW experience.
