Nonprofit Organization Management - Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India
We are a registered charitable trust focusing to alleviate the problem of malnourishment in children through the principles of Ayurveda. We made a humble beginning in 2014 and have ever since supported close to 2575 children with our signature programme, Jeevani Milk Scheme. Today, we stand as one of the frontrunners who have been tirelessly and seamlessly working in Tamil Nadu to promote Ayurvedic measures as the first line of treatment for malnourishment in children. Through our efforts, we do not only attend to the immediate problems but also make inroads for long term change by raising awareness and encouraging community ownership in health. While there is great emphasis on addressing malnourishment in children, we recognize that health is always interconnected with many other aspects like hygiene, education and social development. Therefore, efforts aligned to the principles of Ayurveda are made at all fronts to ensure that children live in healthy and thriving environment. Our interventions involve not just providing treatment but also increasing awareness and inspiring change.According to the National Family Health study published in February 2016, amongst children under the age of 5, the following observations were made. Malnutrition in children is the consequence of a range of factors that are often related to poor quality of food, insufficient food intake, and repeated infectious diseases, or frequently a combination of the three. These conditions, in turn, are closely linked to the overall standard of living such as access to food, housing and health care. These figures are alarming when we consider that these children will be India's future. While consulting Dr P L T Girija in Chennai, it was understood that Ayurveda has a holistic approach in addressing malnourishment. A dedicated team, inclusive of Ayurvedic doctors, works towards supplying milk with the goodness of Ayurvedic medicine ‘Ashwagandhadhi' to children regularly.
