Our association was founded in 1951 for those having successfully completed the Four Days Marches 10 times or more. The association was named after the award each walker receives when having completed the Four Days Marches for the tenth time: the precious Gold Medal. The medal is one of the Netherlands' official decorations. The Association of Gold Medallists is a member of the KWBN (Royal Dutch Walking Association) and consists of over 3,600 members in the Netherlands and abroad. The association naturally looks after the interests of its members. We keep a close watch on all developments concerning the Four Days Marches and we frequently communicate with the Four Days Marches organisation. As a large group of participants we serve as an important sounding board. For instance, in the past we have given advice on route changes, changes to the start location and the creation of the restriction protocol.Next to that, members are entitled to several benefits, such as:-twice a year the full colour magazine GOUD! with background stories and the latest news on the Four Days Marches, also published in English and German our foreign members;-a lustrum award for free for every lustrum edition (15th, 20th etc) -automatic membership of the KWBN (Royal Dutch Walking Association);-discount on all KWBN walks, including 5 euros discount on the Four Days Marches;-an exclusive members' meeting on the Monday preceding the Four Days Marches, during which the chairman of Stichting DE 4DAAGSE tells us about the coming edition;-access to our meeting point on each day of the Four Days Marches.
