Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, known for its red wines. It is a provincial heritage site in the suburb of Faure in the Stellenbosch wine production region and covers an area of 160 hectares. The name translates from the Dutch word "Vergenoegd" meaning "delighted, amused".Situated on the lower reaches of the Eerste River, the vineyards on this piece of land are cooled in summer by south-westerly breezes from the False Bay. The Indian Runners "work" in the vineyards by eating snails and other insects. More than 1000 Indian Runners are herded into the vineyards daily to forage for snails and insects. The Parade of Ducks (walking to and from the vineyards) has become a major public attraction at Vergenoegd Löw The Wine Estate.
